Agility

Online registration and payment is required a minimum of ONE WEEK before the class start date. No registration on the first night of class is allowed. *Please note that there is a $25 charge for canceling your class registration. When we hold a spot for you in class, we incur the cost of teaching the class as well as administrative costs. Thank you for understanding.

Level 1 Agility Foundations
Class Fee $110*
Course Length: 6 Weeks

Agility Foundations is a prerequisite for all agility classes at SOTC. This class will cover ground work, target training, foundation handling skills, introductory jumping, start line stays, focus and more. Dogs should be at least 6 months old. We recommend puppy class completion and basic obedience skills including a solid recall and stay.

Level II Beginner Agility
Class Fee $110*
Course Length: 6 Weeks

This class introduces lowered contact equipment and weave poles, jump training, and basic handling skills. This class can be repeated as needed. Dogs should have completed Agility Foundations or have permission from the instructor.

Beginners and Pre-Novice Agility
Class Fee $110*
Course Length: 6 Weeks

This is a combination class for Beginners and Pre-Novice Agility. Dogs should have completed agility foundations or have permission from the instructor to take this class. The class will introduce contact equipment, weave poles, jump training and basic handling skills. Dog and handler will also focus on building confidence on the equipment and introduce novice coursework. This class can be repeated as needed.

Beginner Refresher Agility

Course Length: 6 Weeks

Did you start agility but had to take a break? Need a refresh on the foundations? Need work on contacts, weaves and handling at a beginner to pre-novice level? We will use small or large equipment based on what your dog needs. Flexible syllabus to get you to the next level.

Level III Pre-Novice Agility

Course Length: 6 Weeks

This class focuses on building confidence on contact equipment and weave poles and developing handling skills needed to navigate novice courses. Teams will begin simple sequencing. This class can be repeated as needed.

Level IV Novice Agility
Class Fee $110*
Course Length: 6 Weeks

This class is for teams that are preparing to trial at the novice/beginner level. Dogs will be working on full-height contact equipment and should be able to complete 6 weave poles. Teams will work on proofing their contacts and developing their handling skills (including front crosses and rear crosses) on short sequences consisting of 8-10 obstacles.

Level V Open Agility

This class is for teams that are training or competing at the novice/open level. Teams will work on longer sequences and/or short courses. More advanced handling skills and obstacle challenges will be introduced at this level. Dogs should be able to complete 12 weave poles.

Excellent/Masters Agility

This class is for teams that are training or competing at the excellent/masters level. Dogs should be proficient on all obstacles and handlers should be comfortable with the advanced handling skills needed to navigate full courses that can be expected at the top levels of competitive agility.

Premier Agility

Premier class will offer additional challenges such as threadles, different obstacle spacing and backsides of jumps. These are master-level courses that are so fun to run. Dogs should be training at the excellent/masters level.

Sequences for Small Spaces

This class is to learn short sequences designed to tighten turns, increase dog and handler connection and work out problems in short drills. This class will be taught indoors.

Agility Jumping Grid Work

Join us in the air-conditioning for short sequences focusing on jump form. A foundations class is required, but any dog of any skill set would benefit from this back-to-basics class designed to help tighten turns and work on collection.
