SOTC loves puppies! In addition to offering puppy training for two different age groups, we are also proud to offer the AKC S.T.A.R. puppy program. Before signing up for a puppy class, please make your choice based on the age of your puppy. Puppies are eligible for classes starting at 11 weeks of age and after completing two sets of vaccinations. All of our trained and experienced instructors use the “lure and reward” method of training. No chokers, prong, or shock collars are allowed. Classes are fun for students and their canine companions and family members are welcome to watch and learn too.
New puppy classes are frequently being added so please check back if you don’t see an available class.
Online registration and payment is required a minimum of ONE WEEK before the class start date. No registration on the first night of class is allowed. *Please note that there is a $25 charge for canceling your class registration. When we hold a spot for you in class, we incur the cost of teaching the class as well as administrative costs. Thank you for understanding.

All motivational and positive methods are used in our puppy socialization class! This class covers basic cues and problem prevention. All training is done on a flat buckle collar. Please see our Class Policies for more information. Puppies attend all 6 weeks.
*Please either bring documentation of the two sets of puppy shots to the first class or email a copy of them to June Plank at [email protected]. You will not be allowed to participate in the class if your puppy’s two sets of shots are not verified.

Advanced Puppy/ Register Now!
Class Fee $110
For dogs 6-17 months old
Classes are 50-60 minutes long and meet once a week for 6 weeks.
Also known as “family pet” dog obedience, in this class handlers will learn to train their dogs using basic cues in a group situation. Dogs are trained using a buckle collar, martingale collar or properly fitted head halter and a four-six foot lead. This class uses only positive training methods and positive reinforcement (no correction or punishment) and will include many training tips. You will attend WITH your dog all 6 class sessions. Basic behaviors taught include attention, sit, down, come, wait, sit for petting, loose leash walking, leave it, stay and more. Maximum class size is 10 dogs; minimum class size is 4 dogs.
